Nature / Balance / Connection
As the ultimate creator, nature has been an important source of inspiration for my artworks, especially in my exploration of the concept of balance. I am drawn to kinetic sculptures because of their ability to harness the natural forces surrounding them, constantly transforming and creating movements.
Nature is powerful yet delicate. I want to explore this in my piece using found materials such as twigs and bark; they are smaller units, coming together to form something greater and more powerful. When working with these materials, I become more mindful of my surroundings and more appreciative of the intricacies and designs of nature. The tranquility of nature provides a peaceful space for contemplation and connection – both with one’s self and one’s environment. Through my work, I hope to encourage the viewers to reflect on their relationship with nature and themselves. By choosing to install my piece in a design studio, I guide viewers to see the twigs and sticks as deliberate artistic objects, amplifying the tension between nature and the man-made.
